Grow your sewing skills month by month with the Secret Garden Sampler Quilt.
Known for the motto “Stunning Quilts Made Simple,” Shelley Cavanna combines two of her biggest passions—historical fiction and quilting—to bring you The Secret Garden Sampler Quilt. This block-of-the-month quilt features eleven floral-inspired blocks with Shelley’s signature sampler-made-modern style made popular by her best-selling book, Barn Star Sampler.
Fans of the novel The Secret Garden by Frances Hogden Burnett know that the story unfolds as the main characters discover the key to a long-abandoned Secret Garden. They transform an overgrown garden into a beautiful oasis to distract themselves from the difficulties and hardships of their everyday lives.
You can, too, by taking time away from the hustle and bustle of the world and learning to cultivate your own secret garden in quilt form with the tips, tricks, and techniques from Shelley Cavanna. If you can sew a straight line, you can make this quilt! Each monthly block can be made in just a few hours, allowing you to hone your sewing and piecing skills with the satisfaction of a finished block without feeling overwhelmed by a ticking clock. You’ll get plenty of practice with Shelley’s piecing techniques as you combine a variety of simple quilt shapes like squares and rectangles into complex geometrical shapes to begin to blossom before your very eyes. With access to an exclusive community with Shelley and your fellow students, you’ll enjoy seeing each garden quilt come to life as the months pass.
Block of the Month (BOM) Q&A
What is the BOM schedule?
Our quilt will be pieced together over 9 months. The first three blocks will be available on 3/20/24 with a video tutorial and instructions for a new block published on the 20th of each month. You will get a reminder email each month that the new block pattern and video are ready for viewing.
Don't miss our Virtual Launch Party the week before the launch (more details will be mailed out). You can ask Shelley questions and get her tips for the adventure ahead. The Party will be recorded if you can not make it.
What if I fall behind the schedule?
Don't stress if you fall behind. Your Creative Spark course content doesn’t expire, so just enjoy the process and work at a comfortable pace!
How will I know what supplies I need?
The supply list, links to optional fabric bundles, and technique tutorial links are available when you purchase the QAL.
